With its narrow, triangular-shaped tip, the sickle scaler is an ideal tool for navigating tight interproximal spaces. While it's traditionally not recommended for use on the cementum covered root surfaces due to the potential for damage, having a sickle scaler on hand during periodontal therapy is invaluable for scaling on enamel surfaces, especially when removing those last bits of tenacious deposits.
